Spooky Environment

For the past month or so, I have been working on a 3D environment in Maya. I decided it'd be fun to create a haunted mansion environment. You can check out the initial concept drawings here, and the modified sketches here. It was a challenge working in Maya again, but I think I learned a lot from the overall experience! It's an improvement, I'd say, over my first Maya environment.

And this is the final rendered image, composited together in Photoshop.

And this was the initial rendered image without any extra passes composited over it.

Let's Draw Some Characters

Since finals have been coming to a close, I've been taking advantage of using the cintiqs before heading out for summer. I sure am going to miss the labs this summer.

I did some character drawings based on my Random Character Name Picker. This gave me a chance to even re-design some of my old characters.

And it led me to figure out a new skin color for my character, Piko. Still trying to decide which fits him best.

I did a little doodle of Fenix. This sketchier line style is really starting to grow on me. It feels a lot more expressive.

And then I did a few more doodles. Mostly just to try and take my mind off of things.

I also started thinking of some new costumes for my characters that will be in my thesis for next year.

I wanted to play around with some designs for some World Leaders.

I'm not sure if I'm happy with my design for Scott, so I drew a whole page of sketches to try and make a final design for him. I'm happy with how the younger version came out (wearing the headphones on his head) but I'm still working with the other one. There were some sketches of Zandra, Gair, and Ralphie thrown into the top too. Then I did a gesture drawing of Scott and Bloods. I'm thinking of finishing it or at least a version similar to it in the near future.

And while I was at it, I did some drawings of dogs characters. I was going to re-design Cheato, but none of these really came out fitting for him, so I am going to keep reworking him.

Doodles During Finals

It's coming real close to the end of the semester, so I've mostly been finishing up projects. In the meantime, this is the work I have been doing when I have some free time.

A doodle I did in 11 minutes. Just wanted to take a little break and sketch my character, Zandra.

Another 10 minute doodle to take a break. This one's of Ralphie.

I was feeling super stressed so I drew this to pick up my mood a bit. This is Sarah.

Some sketches I did during class.

Some of my characters mixed in with my friends Jinny and Hillary's characters.

I decided to see what would happen if I drew in a dark room with no lights. So these are some blind sketches.

Cafe Sketch Final

My final project for my Cafe Sketch class was to compile our best drawings together from the semester and present them in an organized way. I decided to go with a sketchbook theme, since the class focused majorly on keeping a sketchbook. I set up each page to look like the actual layout of my sketchbook. And, to make it have an even more traditional feel, I made a font of my handwriting and used that for the text.  I also decided to show a progression of my improvement by starting with the earliest drawings all the way to the most recent ones (aside from the few on the very first and very last pages).

Digital Sculpture Final!

I finished my last project for my Digital Sculpture Class! There are still a few things I'm fixing up, since I had a critique today, but this is as finished as it is for now! I may upload a turnaround sheet of the final version at some point next week. You can check out my concept work for Ivy here. And if you want to see the initial concepts and sculpt for O-llie, check them out here.

These are the final Illustrations with my human character and creature posed together.

And this is the turntable for the above.

And the turnaround sheet in color!

And in grayscale.
