Digital Sculpture Final!

I finished my last project for my Digital Sculpture Class! There are still a few things I'm fixing up, since I had a critique today, but this is as finished as it is for now! I may upload a turnaround sheet of the final version at some point next week. You can check out my concept work for Ivy here. And if you want to see the initial concepts and sculpt for O-llie, check them out here.

These are the final Illustrations with my human character and creature posed together.

And this is the turntable for the above.

And the turnaround sheet in color!

And in grayscale.

Human Character Concepts

My final for my Digital Sculpture class is very close to completion, so I decided I would show the concepts that were put into creating it. Expect to see the final sculpt within the next few days!

We had to create a human character that would exist in the same world as the creature we created in our previous project.  So I created Ivy, a girl who lives in the forests and is friends with the creature, O-llie. I got some inspiration from the Brazilian Amazons, mostly.

This is her final design, although there were a few changes when I sculpted her. These colors were also messed around with, but based from the initial color studies. Her arm is visible, and I added more vines in one of the sculpts, and emitted them from the other.

These were the initial silhouettes I did.

And from there, I did a few sketches.

And then I made some color variations based from my favorite design.

Stay tuned for more work involving Ivy, coming soon!

3D Quadroped

Our next project for my Digital Sculpture class was to create a creature from our imagination, using existing animals and creatures as reference. O-llie Oliver is a forest creature. I decided to do a mix between a rabbit and frog, and make him be native to and area similar to the Brazilian Amazons.

My final model, posed and colored.
The background image is from here.

This is my turntable video.

And this is the final turnaround sheet.

These were the initial silhouettes I did to try and figure out good shape combinations.

This was my first Speed Sculpt: O-llie Oliver.

And this was my second Speed Sculpt: Thea. He runs a movie theater in Biggert City.

Stay tuned for the human character who I'm designing for my final!
They'll be posed along with this little guy, so I'm looking forward to that.
Until next time!

And Another Bust Completed!

For the past few weeks I have been working on a 3D sculpt in ZBrush of my friend, Jesse.  The assignment was to create a bust of ourselves, but since I already did that, I was given permission to create one of someone else.  All in all, I can see my sculpting skills improving with every project, so I'm excited to see what else comes!

This is the final illustration I composited in Photoshop after posing the model.

The turnaround sheet.

And I made a turntable video to show the grayscale and then painted version.

First ZBrush Sculpts!

So our first project in Digital Sculpture Illustration was to create various creatures, and produce finished illustrations from them. This was my first time ever working in ZBrush before, so I did struggle a bit. But either way, I can definitely tell I am beginning to slowly understand the program better.

I started with a few "speed sculpts" that I spent about three hours on for each one. I decided to go ahead and make an extra one since I was not at all pleased with my first one. These are the final turnarounds exported from ZBrush.

This was my first take at creating a 3D illustration. I had some difficulties creating it, but after the class critique, I went back in and refined a few things.

This one I was much more pleased with, but there are still some parts that could use some work, of course.

3D Silhouettes

So the semester started up, which means I've been starting on some projects for classes. Two of my classes revolve around ZBrush, so I've been learning the basics of that.

These are some silhouette ideas I did in ZBrush for our first project.
