Buttons the Bird

For my final in Storyboarding class, we had to create a story based off of Ohio History and pitch it to the class using a series of beat boards. I chose to create a story about a bird named Buttons, who meets a bird named Martha.

Buttons and Martha

I decided for my Storyboarding final to create a story about two birds who become friends, but it ends in a tragedy. I am doing a few beat boards to describe the story, and so far I have some beat board sketches. These may change by the end, but here are my initial ideas:

Ohio History Museum

So last week I had the opportunity to visit the Ohio History Museum. Currently I'm working on a research project for my story class, involving Ohio History, so these are some sketches I did while I was there, as well as some that I developed based on them.

Some character sketches for the ideas I came up with.

Some sketches from the Museum.

And some photos I took while I was there.

Cars and Bugs

I've been learning how to draw more cars and bugs! And also I even mixed them into one.

Here's the hybrid project.

 Some car gestures.

Some cars from the demo.

Cars are Hard

So this week we dove into drawing mechanical things... which just so happens to be my weakest point. So it's a good thing to really start working on these skills! I struggle a lot with vehicles, but at least the more I draw them, the better I'll get at them. Someday I'll be able to draw cars, haha.

Lots of attempts.
And these were some attempts during the demo.

Franklin Park Conservatory

Yesterday I had the opportunity to draw the plants and trees at the Franklin Park Conservatory. It was a really nice place, I'm glad I finally got the chance to go. I still struggle a lot with drawing plants, but practicing is making me improve, at least!

Trees!

This week I learned about plants and the magic behind fractals! Trees make a whole lot more sense now, I just need to practice a lot using this new method that my instructor introduced to me.

Some drawings I did during the demo.

And these were a bunch of practice tree drawings I did tonight.
