More from FF8!

While I continue to replay FF8, I continue to draw more and more fanart of it, haha.

Another quick FF8 fanart. I'm about halfway done (or maybe more?) with disc 2 in my replaying of FF8, and I came across this quote. Squall is starting to catch on. His friends can't hide it anymore.

And a few more composition studies.

FF8 Drawings!

So I started my FF8 save file back up last night, which means, more composition studies! And I did some doodles too.

I drew lots from in Balamb Garden, but also a few others until the very first shot you see of Squall and the team on their way to Dollet. I think I spent a bit more time with these ones than I did with my previous ones. But the perspective on a few of these was tough to get.

Final Fantasy Art

I've been in a Final Fantasy mood recently, which has been hard because I've been so busy that I haven't had time to play much. But I'm managing to schedule a little bit of time to play, around my work.

Whenever I get some off-time, I've been trying to play through FF8 again. And I've been realizing how the compositions are all really good! FF8 was actually the number one example and inspiration for the camera angles I wanted to accomplish in my game, Detective Ragger. But I did this as a good exercise to practice compositions while replaying FF8. It gives me a chance to take a break from constant work and just really analyze and enjoy the best game out there, once again.

So I beat FF13-2 last week. I definitely have a love-hate relationship with the FF13 series, but at least the characters are great.

Characters with Props!

Some more character drawings and some sketchbook exercises! I tried to go beyond my regular character a day and actually add a prop into the drawing. I'm planning on doing this for the days that I have more time.

Bouncy Room Lady is the founder of #BouncyRoom in the Pojo Complex. She was once a very happy rabbit who enjoyed letting people come to her channel to have fun. Once Chozu took over her channel and banned her, she began to be a very vengeful rabbit who wanted revenge on him. She has an intense hatred for Chozu, since he destroyed her life at Pojo Complex and vows to one day punish him. She fights with an inflatable hammer; and basically she only uses inflatable objects.

Pidgebeetle is one of the Bird-In-Trainings of Tag World. He watches over the M Nays when they visit Tag World, although they do not particularly like him. Pidgebeetle is usually very happy and likes to treat The Nays as if they are his own children who live in Tag World. He always thinks up games or events for The Nays to play, and some of them are usually not events that The Nays particularly want to do. Whenever he has a chance to, he will bring The Nays to Tag World, and keep them from going to their real homes. Pidgebeetle is usually very outgoing and happy.

Quicklings

So I've been doing a lot of quicker drawings since I've gotten back.

Theodore is a playful puppy who wants to run around all the time. He loves playing dodge ball and any other games that are active. He loves biting things as well, but he bites them in a very playful manor.

A sketch of Chozu I did the day I moved in.

Time is Running Out!

Can't believe I'll be in class a week from today! These last few weeks have really sped by, so I've been working on my Thesis script and trying to finish that up before the semester starts. So I worked a lot more on it last night. Slowly but surely I'm getting there (at this point I'm up to page 60). I also took the time to look at some of my old RPGmaker 2003 games and figure out things to take from them and improve on for future games.

Trekkon is a very calm and not very talkative boy. Once he sets a goal, he follows through with it no matter what. At first he is very innocent, weak, and naive, but eventually he becomes very strong-willed and knowledgeable. He has a very deep connection for his sister, Kominushu and will protect her at all costs. Trekkon was very good friends with Gair, and able to tell him anything on his mind. When Trekkon joined with Death, he distanced himself from the rest of The Nays, even though he did still attempt to protect his friends in his own secretive way.

Upupu…

As the title suggests, I've started up playing Dangan Ronpa again. Plus down below I did some sketches from it.

Ram is a lively girl who loves to have fun. She is often seen cheering or dancing around. Her attachment and liking to Tag World often sets her apart from the rest of The Nays, but she likes to stick around with Muyo. Her defining technique is her ability to call upon a herd of rams. With a simple blow of her horn, a large group of them come charging to her aid.

These are the Dangan Ronpa sketches I did last night. The character designs are really nice in the game, so I decided I'd try to draw the cast. Some of these I had more fun drawing than others and it was kind of obvious that I got tired by the end, haha.

Some more composition studies from Hunter x Hunter.

And some gestures I did as warm-up for the day.

Oh and one last thing.
"There's a conspicuous lack of "baby" in the world!"

Character Doodles

I've been slipping in and out of my motivation to work on projects... I don't think the realization that summer is almost over has completely kicked in yet. But overall, I'm just going to keep on drawing until I can become more motivated!

Kevin is a very reserved man who avoids social activities whenever he can. His wife is very controlling and often orders him around and forces him to do many things that we would not otherwise do. He does not have very much self-confidence, but his few close friends help keep him on his feet. He is very dependent on others and doesn't put very much effort forward to do things on his own, unless he is forced to. He is not very observant either. Although, he has a great sense of humor when he is socializing with his friends and is usually the "clown" of the group.

I was doing some doodles of myself because I haven't in awhile. There weren't really any that were successful enough for me to fully finish though.

Had a really bad art block last night, so I doodled some characters to try and get over it.

Backyard Baseball Fanart

Some quick little sketches from yesterday!

Yuu is a very mischievous little creature that is always playing tricks on people. In his free time, he loves to swim and play card games. He is the fastest swimmer of his crew and wants to someday dive to the bottom of the ocean and explore the underwater areas and meet the creatures down there. The little object on his head acts as a light, which is very useful for navigating.

And so my brother was playing Backyard Baseball the other day and he requested that I do some fanart. The characters were super fun to draw, but it was hard to really stylize them because their personalities are already shown well through their designs.

I watched some more Hunter x Hunter and did a few composition studies.

Attempt at Environments

My idea life would be drawing characters and playing video games all day. Unfortunately, that's not how things go. I had to face my fears today and attempted to actually try and draw an environment. Environments are my weakest point, so I need to get better at doing those.

Julie is a popular pop star in Willingsworth City. She is very concerned about her body image, as well as her reputation. She often yells at her husband, Alphonse, for going out every night and getting wasted at the parties with his friends. Julie loves to dance, along with her lead role as a singer. She has a very bubbly personality, but can be strict when time calls for her to do so. She also enjoys chatting online, using mIRC; at one point she meets Cipo and befriends him.

This is the environment I did from my head, using some various references as inspiration. I'm not too happy with how it came out, but one day I'll get to a point where my environments are halfway decent, haha.

Went out to the Lakewood yesterday, so I did some doodles of people in the city.

Hunter x Hunter Sketching (& More)

I spent longer time on the lineart for my character piece yesterday, so I was please with how that came out. And in the meantime, I finally took a (somewhat) break from working and watched some Hunter x Hunter.

Rammako is a very serious and protective young man; he is always looking out for his sister Chica. Ever since his youngest sister was killed, he has felt resentment towards himself. Ever since then, he has trained vigorously and has become very cautious, to ensure no more failure in protecting those he loves most. When around his friends, he can be silly and make up new words that he finds to be cool.

I decided to finally start watching the new Hunter x Hunter anime. Well at this point, it started about two years ago, but I never got a chance to watch the rebooted series. And so I decided to do some fanart afterwards, which was quite hard for me. I haven't done fanart (aside from Pokemon) in a reallly long time. But Hisoka, Leorio, and Komugi were my favorites to draw.

So I did some composition studies while I was watching Hunter x Hunter. Drawing, reading subtitles, and watching at the same time is quite a challenge though.

Some sketches I did in the parking lot of the mall.

Personal Sketchbook Drawings from Camp

Every once in awhile when I wasn't in the mood for doing observational drawings, but I had my sketchbook around, I would do some doodles of my characters and just anything that popped into my head. So these are a few pages I did while I was at camp.

I started really enjoying doing marker drawings after awhile. I need to purchase some more lighter marker colors so I can do underlying colors not in yellow.

A bunch of character doodles.

Doodles of Eevee I did early on.

Didn't quite finish this one.

Digital Experimenting

My workload hasn't been too heavy this week, so I've been trying to take a break before finals. I've been trying to play around with styles.

A little sketch I did of my character Cimc, the lying mouse.

A creepy drawing of my character, Squidwik.

Sketchbook Fun Time

Some stuff I've been doing in my sketchbook recently. I've been doing (almost) daily anatomy studies, but I didn't bother really scanning or posting those.

I'm considering changing up Ivy's design a bit. I made her look a lot more like she's from the Brazilian Amazons, to really fit in with the idea that she lives in the forests. I might end up sculpting her in the weeks to come.

Some composition studies I did in class of the movie, Ararat.

A little doodle before bed one night when I couldn't sleep.
