Cafe Sketch Final

My final project for my Cafe Sketch class was to compile our best drawings together from the semester and present them in an organized way. I decided to go with a sketchbook theme, since the class focused majorly on keeping a sketchbook. I set up each page to look like the actual layout of my sketchbook. And, to make it have an even more traditional feel, I made a font of my handwriting and used that for the text.  I also decided to show a progression of my improvement by starting with the earliest drawings all the way to the most recent ones (aside from the few on the very first and very last pages).

4.25.14 - Zoo Class Session

We went to the zoo for our final drawing session of Cafe Sketch. It was a lot of fun, even if it was a little rainy. I spent the majority of the time in the Australia section, since those animals were super active and interesting to draw. It made me want to draw some of them a lot more than just  at the zoo. After receiving some feedback from my instructor, I was able to figure out what to focus on and improve on before the end of the semester. So I decided to focus on the motions of the animals for this session. I tried drawing through the animals and really looking a lot closer at the details and proportions.

I really missed drawing people from life, since the past few weeks we have been drawing only animals, so I decided to draw some of the people walking around the zoo towards the end.

4.18.14 - Zoo Class Session

We went to the Columbus Zoo for class this week! It was super nice out, so it was a lot of fun. We got to draw a wide variety of animals and weren't just limited to the ones inside. We focused more on longer drawings with more details in them, rather than quick gestures. It was a bit difficult, especially with the animals that moved around a lot. But it was a really fun exercise!

Week 12: Appeal Homework

For homework this week, I had to first find my 20 most appealing drawings from the semester, then I did 5 more new ones, spending about 5 minutes on each of them.

These are the 20 old drawings.

And these are the 5 new ones I did.

4.11.14 - Nature Center Class Session

We went to a Nature Center this week for class. It was a very long drive, which made the trip not as fun as I would have hoped. We spent more time traveling than actually sitting there drawing, so it was a bit of a disappointment. If the nature center would have been closer, it would have definitely been a lot more enjoyable.

4.4.14 - Zoo Class Session

This week we went to the Zoo for the entire class session! It was a rainy day, so we had to stay inside the whole time, but it was still a lot of fun. This was probably one of my favorite sessions so far.
