Presents!

Here are some things that I've drawn for other people recently.

This was for my friend Jinny since she drew my character!

So my regional manger set out a drawing challenge and I couldn't resist participating. I think I may have gotten a little carried away though.

Gesture Drawings (It's been awhile)

At the ASC and Weeklies, we've been doing more gesture drawing, which is good, because I have been too busy to do any on my own time really, as of recently. So this has been super useful and made me realize how I need to get back into the habit of doing gesture drawing more often (even if it just from a movie I'm watching).

500th Post! (I'm alive)

Well my blog's been going for a few years now and I finally reached 500. I would have loved to include a much larger post, but I've been pretty swamped with finals. Even if there haven't been updates recently, that just means there will be a large amount of updates in the next few days. I've been doing lots of work for my finals, so that will all be ready to post in the next few days.

This was a Secret Santa gift I did for Synclaire Kaptur. She requested Baymax, so this was a lot of fun to draw! :)

And these were some little Christmas presents I did for a few of my friends. I drew some of their original characters, or favorite existing characters.

Symphony Hour

This week's main assignment was doing the in-betweens for a portion of Symphony Hour. There are some more gestures and other exercises done during class as well.

The clip from Symphony Hour. I did the in-betweens, while the keys were given to us.

Gestures done from Peter Pan. I decided to use the cintiq this time instead of my sketch book. I think they came out nicer than the ones I've done for class in the past.

These were gestures from Tom & Jerry.

An exercise we did in class, dealing with making our characters expressive.

Finished Oliver & Company

So I finished Oliver & Company today. But unfortunately, I am starting to get sick. It's a pretty bad sickness that's really slowing me down in my art. Like I wasn't having a hard enough time finishing up art before the end of the summer, huh?

Yesterday Flew By

I feel like yesterday flew by really fast. Most likely because I slept in a bit later than I wanted to. But I'm getting closer to finishing Oliver & Company.

Balancing

Trying to start on some more finalized digital art, while also having some down time for video game breaks. I'd say it was a fairly successful day.

This is a little sneak preview of what I was working on last night. It will be done either tonight or in the next few days. I'm planning on making it into a finished Illustration, although it was originally going to just be a quick sketch.

Trying to Take a Break

Decided to give myself a little break yesterday. But even when I was trying to take a break to play Sonic Generations, it didn't run well with my computer so that was really disappointing.

Some gestures drawn at Burger-Nuts while waiting for food.

And since I played Pokemon Ruby for about 5 minutes, I drew this little sketch to add onto Nicola's Journey that I started back in June.

Working at My Own Pace

I finally had a day where I got to relax and work on art at my own pace. I feel like I ended up accomplishing a lot more and things didn't come out as terrible.

Finally had some time to do my own art. These are two of my characters: Ivy and Cin.

So I tried out the hand practice tutorials on Wysp and they were pretty cool.

Catching Up

Yesterday was spent catching up on work and other drawings that I didn't have time to do this weekend.

All-Nighter

So I just pulled an all-nighter doing clean-up for a project... well basically an all-nighter. I took a 4 hour nap because I wasn't feeling well in the midst of all that. And I've got a busy weekend with family ahead of me. I may or may not keep up the daily updates depending on how busy I am. Or if I do update daily, they won't be all that big. Just a heads up.

July is Over?

I've gotta say, the first few months of summer went by really slow, but July went pretty fast. It's exciting that the end of August is approaching faster, but there's an awful lot I need to get done by then.

After listening to Stephen Silver's Art Cast, I learned that the main thing that made him improve was doing caricatures. So I decided to practice doing some digital portraits in a few different styles. Originally I had planned on drawing caricatures, but then I realized I need practice doing portraits first. So it's kind of mixed, I guess.
