Spooky Environment

For the past month or so, I have been working on a 3D environment in Maya. I decided it'd be fun to create a haunted mansion environment. You can check out the initial concept drawings here, and the modified sketches here. It was a challenge working in Maya again, but I think I learned a lot from the overall experience! It's an improvement, I'd say, over my first Maya environment.

And this is the final rendered image, composited together in Photoshop.

More Graveyards!

I made some revised composition studies for my environment that I am going to be modeling for the remainder of this semester. I needed to make it more of a vignette and have a smaller amount of space that it covered. My personal favorite from this batch is the first one. You can check out my previous compositions I did here.

Last Day of Spring Break!

So Spring Break's finally over. I got what I needed to get done, but I wish I could've worked a little harder. Either way, I'm ready to go back to classes!

These were some composition studies I did for my next 3D environment project. I'm planning on doing the exterior of a haunted mansion.

3D Character Completed!

So for the past few weeks, I have been working on a sculpt of my character, Snull. The original drawing concepts can be found here. This was my first time creating a full body sculpt, and I went with more of a cartoony look as well. After sculpting it, I colored and posed it. The posing gave me a lot of trouble, but I got it all together in the end!

I did some editing in Photoshop to create this final version.

Snull and Ralphie: More Sketches!

I ended up doing some finished drawings for my character, Ralphie, since I was stuck between whether to sculpt him or Snull. I ended up deciding to go with Snull and use her for my sculpt. I'm thinking about sculpting Ralphie at some point in my free time later though.

An extra pages of sketches that I did for Snull.

Some gestures of the pose I'm thinking about using for my posed sculpt of Snull.

I did some revisions for Snull based off of some of the feedback I received.

Character Project: Concepts!

My next project in Computer Animation II is sculpting a character. It's the most excited I've been for a project in one of my 3D classes.

So initially, I drew some various drawings (as pictured below) of my characters. Some of the ones included in the initial pages were older drawings I've done, but the most recent representations of each. As you can see above, that is the final design I decided to go with.

Akuma Nai, a guardian demon

Cimc Suhc, a mouse

Mr Marcus, World Leader

 Pubby Ragger, a cat

Ralphie Ragger, young boy from North Harbor

 Snull Lenso, ex-guardian demon

Squidwik, an alien from Io

Zandra Saku, member of the Tano Clan

ZBrush Self Portrait!

So I completed my first assignment for my Computer Animation II class over the weekend. We had to create a bust of ourselves in ZBrush.  It was extremely difficult for a first assignment in ZBrush. I probably would have struggled much more if I had not done so many speed sculpts at the same time in my Digital Sculpture class. Overall, there are a lot of things I wish I could have fixed, but I ran out of time and got a little stumped along the way.
