Amber & Sid

These are some character drawings that I've been a lot happier with.

Sid is both a scientist and inventor who works on many different experiments and inventions. He has a goal to rule over The Worlds, but every time he tries, he fails miserably. Sometimes Sid will even lose control of his own creations and seek help from others in order to fix his mistakes. Although he is an enemy of The Nays, he does not mind teaming up with them in certain situations.

Amber is a girl who overly cares about her looks and does everything she can to look "attractive." She wears very little and tight clothing; she puts on a lot of make-up and straightens her hair every morning. Amber secretly tries to impress the boy she cares for, Shaw, but he does all but notice her at all. Besides her taking care of her appearance, Amber also trains under her teacher alongside her siblings and Zandra. She is also a very stubborn girl who puts herself much higher than others, and believes no one is allowed to say anything bad about her or else she will either hate them or immediately retaliate with her own angry comments. Amber is not liked by many outside of her own group because of her mean personality, but with her friends, she is somewhat nicer.

Isod & Caps

Some characters I did last week.

Isod is a shy demon who is childhood friends with Akuma. Growing up he wanted to be a member of the Death Association, but when he realizes that writing was his true calling. He uses his words to fight, along with his trusty bow and arrow. He is not all that strong, but he does what he can to help his friends.

Caps is a very nervous kid who has been bullied ever since he was young, because of one incident when he wet his pants in first grade. He never stands up for himself and has no self-confidence whatsoever. He is very shy until his last moments, when he snaps and finally stands up for himself.

Dragon Ball Animation

I had the awesome opportunity to participate in the Seven Star Dragon Ball Re-Animate Project on Tumblr. This was a really fun scene and I had some fun animating in Photoshop. This definitely came out a lot better than anything I've cleaned up in Toonboom, so I'm pretty happy with it. This was a rough experiment, so I plan on doing some more fleshed out stuff in Photoshop in the future.

Animated Pubby

Some stuff from the last week or two at the ASC.

A little gif I made for the Animation Smackdown. This week's theme was cereal mascots! Jinny Hinkle recommended I make up my own cereal named Pubby-ohs, so here it is. Pubby is presenting his new cereal brand: Pubby-ohs. I've been pretty busy with homework, so this is my small contribution to the contest.

After Spring Break

Although I got back to classes about a week ago, these were some of the characters I did the first two days I was back.

Josinda is a very tough member of the Big Kid Group in Biggert City. He loves playing baseball and is always heard singing a song when he goes up to bat. Josinda is one of the members that enjoys engaging in fights, most often. He will often be seen beating up creatures younger than him.

Kudamono is a large man who is feared by many. He is the leader of a group of killers who enjoy playing "The Game," a game where two teams kill one another in a maze-like dark room. Kudamono has never lost at "The Game" and so he has killed countless people. He is a wanted man by all of Mr Dude World, but he is very good at staying undercover and hiding from the officials.

Spring Break Characters

These are some of the characters that I did over spring break.

Heri Cots Vert is one of Veetoff's followers who will do whatever Veetoff wishes. He is always found at Veetoff's side, and is referred to as one of "Veetoff's slaves" by Gair. He does not have much of a mind on his own, but does not hesitate to aid Veetoff whenever he is given permission to. Although he is not considered a friend to Veetoff, they are both members of the Teso clan, and grew up together. Heri Cots Vert is fairly reserved and never opens up to anyway, though his soft side is actually seen when he is around Casmella, because of her love for him.

Flak is a very outgoing bird that is very deceitful. He will often pretend he is something that he is not, until people begin to believe him. He is very tricky and great at fooling people into believing his lies. He may look like he is very dopey, but he is actually very sly and sneaky.

Traditional NAD Drawings

So for the weekend that the labs were closed, I ended up doing my daily characters traditionally in my sketchbook instead of using my tablet, since it has been difficult to get used to drawing that way again.

Lucielle is a girl who is obsessed with chickens. She owns a whole bunch of them and uses them to her advantage in battle. She grew up on a farm, so she knows pretty much everything about them. She is usually fairly distanced from groups of people and does not fit in very easily. She eventually becomes a strong leader once she is older, though.

Effside is a grumpy member of the Big Kid Club in Biggert City. He is possibly the strongest in the city, so the citizens tend to let him be and not mess with him. Although he has a tough front, he is actually very helpful at the Gozo Burger, and is willing to help out Gozo when he needs it. Gozo, Trabe, and Chiz are probably the only ones who can give him orders without being injured.

Free Time Drawings

The past few weeks have been super hectic because, senior year and thesis, and everything else that's been going on. So it's been hard to fit in free time (even my character a day project is hard, so above that is pretty much not happening). But somehow I fit in these two drawings for fun, so it really relieved a lot of stress. I wish I had time to do this more often.

I've been playing Dangan Ronpa 2 and Fuyuhiko is definitely my favorite. I got super attached after hearing more about his past and when his character development started happening. So here's a little doodle I did. I drew this when my Spring Break first started and all I wanted to do was sleep and play Dangan Ronpa 2. 

Here's a small gift I made for my best friend, Jinny Hinkle, since it was her birthday the other week. This is the main character of her thesis.

Before & After Spring Break

This is the difference between about a weeks worth of characters. Ches was drawn before break and Dark Thunder was drawn towards the end of break.

Ches is a very angry rebel who will do whatever is "cool" or currently "in." His main hobby is skateboarding, and he always does what he can to go against the law, because he thinks it will make him more "cool." Ches has a very bad temper and will often say "I don't feel like doing this anymore" when he is upset. He talks very briskly and has a pretty bad attitude overall, which explains why he doesn't really have any friends besides Larry.

Dark Thunder is a powerful creature with the ability to teleport. He does not speak very much and is mostly found training on his own in the mountains. He resides at the Saku house as a guest because he is a member of Jaboo's gang. Whenever anyone messes with him, they usually do not live to tell the stories.

Shouji & Gashil

Some characters I had designed in the past. It was fun to re-draw them.

Gashil is a very serious man who does not mess around. He gets right down to business and is always prepared for battle. He comes from AV World, so growing up he was forced to decide whether or not he was to serve the king or become part of the resistance. Being a part of the resistance, he was always forced to have a secretive approach to his actions and was able to move about in a sneaky manner. Since he has become an R Nay, he has been a co-leader, working under R.

Shouji is a mangaka who is one of the two leaders of SN World. He likes to be alone and will almost always be seen drawing. Shouji does not enjoy having visitors to his World, and will often charge them a toll for staying in his World. Although, Shouji is a bit more understanding than his partner Norio, and is helpful in times of crisis or urgent events. Usually he is very polite and caring to guests when they first arrive, and only becomes forceful when they have overstayed their welcome.

Rough Days

These were rough days, so my character drawings didn't come out to the quality of my previous ones unfortunately. I've been struggling to really even do these drawings because of the immense amount of homework and other obligations, but it's really something that will help me in the long run with being more productive, so I'm trucking through and keeping it going.

Terra likes to talk to many people, even if they do not particularly like him. He is very easily offended, which causes many of the other Nays to dislike him. Ralphie and his friends still treat him with respect however. Terra was trained as a martial artist by the master Earl Gray, although compared to the others, he is fairly weak. After a particularly traumatizing event, he begins to act much more serious, somber, and angry.

Electric Ying Ying is a very smart cheetah that works on the roof of the Power Station of Biggert City. He is not very social and usually keeps to himself, aside from when he is working with his best friend, Buzz. He is always doing lab experiments with his partner Buzz, and together, they eventually revive an alien life-form from the dead that wrecks havoc on Biggert City.

Tegra Note Challenge

When I was home during Spring Break, I had somehow forgotten my tablet pen, so I was unable to draw my characters in the same quality as I've been able to previously. Instead I had to use Sketchbook Express on my tiny Tegra Note, so it was pretty challenging. That device isn't really made for drawing, so my drawings came out super messy that I did on it. Also because of the limited amount of layers you can have on the mobile version of Sketchbook Express, I have to create the background and writing using a mouse or track-pad on my laptop. Although, I still ended up doing them either way.

Pychy is a friend of Mr Dude and the guide of the Hillside Manor. He is very elegant and polite. He is also an architect; he is the one who built the Hillside Manor, as well as many other places in Mr Dude World.

Mosh is a very silly creature that is Ann's pet and best friend. He always wants to have fun, so is constantly seeking attention from Ann and her friends. He knows when to stop though, if he is being too annoying and needy.

Lemon is very well-off, financially, but she does not have very much confidence in herself. She always fears having no friends, even though she is very close to them. She will stay attached to her few friends no matter what. She is usually very outgoing though, when she is around them. She looks up to Zandra and Aquina as her idols and follows them wherever they go.

And this one was actually drawn on my Monoprice Tablet (as you can tell I'm far too used to drawing on cintiqs that it's been difficult to adjust).

Maru, the mother of Tyin, was the one who was left out of the group in her generation of Nays. Being the first generation Pigger, she always wanted to protect the poor, regardless of how she was treated by the other Nays. Some of her cousins were poor, so she had a close connection with them. Maru was also the first one to kill another Nay; she killed Oketsu for making fun of her and never accepting her, no matter how hard she tried.

Sketchbook Break

Over Spring Break, since I forgot to bring my tablet home, I ended up drawing a lot more in my sketchbook. It was fun to just doodle some characters.

Back to Life Drawing

Realized I haven't had time to get around to doing much life drawing lately, so I need to start getting back into doing that more often! I checked in my sketchbook dedicated to life drawing, and I hadn't drawn in it since December, so trying to get back in the habit of doing life drawings is something I hope to do. Especially with the weather getting nicer, I'll have the opportunity to go outside more often at least.

Jr Tr & Jake

Some more characters that are either Nays or related to The Nays.

JrTr is a talkative boy who is a born leader. He often makes fun of the Nays he doesn't like (such as Gojo and Ralphie) but he cares about the well-being of the Nays in general. Along with his best friend Gair, he trained under Harukame in EdenTopia.

Jake is a very anti-social man that rarely leaves his home. He even works from home to avoid human interaction, and his wife leaves the house for him to purchase groceries or whatever other errands need to be run. He only interacts with his family and even then, he does not really talk to them much.

Anti-Hero Characters

These characters both happen to be characters that either started out as good guys and became bad, or vice-versa. El Pubby started out bad, while Tomocumber started out good, so it's a fun coincidental contrast here.

El Pubby is a very competitive small cat that has a huge rivalry with Pubby over who the "true Pubby" is. At first the two of them hate each other, but eventually they become close friends. El Pubby is pompous and hates making a fool of himself in front of others, so he will do everything in his power to make up excuses for his mistakes or lie his way through them.

Tomocumber used to be a very silly boy who was best friends with Thing. He was once a young carefree boy who was not very intelligent, but once he reunited with his parents, Yana and Pealo, he changed. On the realization that his mission was to kill Thing, he turned into a serious boy with a will to carry out his mission. He now views Thing as an enemy and is very forceful in carrying out his mission.

Ivy & Xalt

Some character drawings from last week! These ones already were recently (or semi-recently) re-designed, so it was fun to draw them again without having to think of much re-design.

Ivy is able to speak with and get help from the plant-life, no matter where it is found. Because of these powers of hers, Ivy was rejected at her past home. Upon her foster mother being killed in her work building, she joined Ralphie after he saved her life. Ivy does not talk all that much, and she acts quite mature for her young age, besides the fact that she carries around a ragged stuffed cat.

Xalt is the daughter of the World Leader, New Lady. She acts as a leader-figure of the R Nays because she is the oldest and her mother is a World Leader. She is very demanding and will not let things go until she gets her way.

North Harbor Characters

These two are both from North Harbor, The Nays' home town. This meaning they used to be very different designs when I made them up about 10 years ago, but now they're much more solidified and improved. My brother actually re-designed them, I just drew final versions based on his designs.

 Dendrite is a very strange creature that is the Mayor of North Harbor. He enjoys writing music stories in his off time, when he is not working. Dendrite does not have many close friends, but he loves to socialize with most people, regardless. When he is made fun of, he takes a lot of offense and usually wishes to punish them in some way.

 Taylor is a pro-wrestler who is known as "The Exploding Iris." He is pretty irresponsible and carefree. Taylor always seems to be pretty laid-back and positive, regardless. He is a fairly popular wrestler, even starring in his own video game.

More Main Nays

Admittedly, Klam isn't a very main Nay, but Johnny sure is. He was classified in some of the more main Nays at one point though, so it was fun to draw both of these two again.

Johnny used to be a very serious child when he was little, but once he grew older, he became much more cheerful. Johnny is friendly and very social. He is easily attracted to girls and will try to flirt with those he finds attractive (which just so happens to be almost every girl he meets). Johnny gets excited easily and loves being hyperactive, especially with his friends.

 Klam is a very passive creature who loves fishing. He is very shy and does not emote very much at all. He has trouble making friends and is usually overlooked and rarely stands out. He is a loner who prefers to do things on his own.

Animals at Weeklies

We drew animal gestures this week at Weeklies.
