Off to Camp!

I will be away from a computer for the next three weeks, working at iD Tech Camp. So I just wanted to post all of this stuff I've been rushing to do before I leave. It's been super crazy busy time preparing for camp, while working on my own stuff, but I'm definitely looking forward to camp, since it sounds like a lot fun!

So my brother is working on a game this month, and I ended up coming up with these designs for the characters. They're still super rough and might even end up changing in the future, who knows. But I basically just sketched them out and threw some color on. These also gave me some challenges since I struggle a lot with drawing hats and robots. But it was a fun challenge to pull through with!

Commissioned Piece!

So I finally got a Commission! I haven't actually gotten to do one since 2012, so it was exciting. I realized something after doing a commission... It reiterated the importance of actually finishing pieces. Even if I think they aren't looking so great in the sketching stages, it gives me a sense of satisfaction when I see the finished product fully lined and colored. And commissions help me out even more, because I am committed and HAVE to finish it, I can't just give up halfway through. Working on a deadline can be stressful at times, but it's also very beneficial and healthy for me.

This was the commissioned piece that I did.

More Levels and Pokemon!

I've been creating some final images for my lesson plan and handouts for the campers in my classes these next few weeks. I've also been trying to finish up some more things before heading out for a month or so.

I did some more level design concepts to use as examples for my classes these upcoming weeks. These ones are dealing with TF2 and Portal 2.

Level Design Concept!

So I've mostly been learning some new stuff to teach next week as well as making my lesson plans. But in the mean time, I've been doing a few other various things.

So this is a little sneak peak at one of the beginning activities I'll be having the kids do at camp. This is my example of a map (for an RPG that could be created in GUTS). I actually made this map of my parents' house. This was super quick and done in about 45 minutes so I could see how much time I would give them to create their own maps.

I found some chalk at a park when we went on a picnic yesterday, so I had some fun with it. It was like sunset so the lighting is really harsh and some of them are hard to see, so sorry about that.
