Zoo Progress

This is what I've been working on the past week for my Drawing for Entertainment Design class. Lots of work and our first critique is coming up tomorrow!

A bunch of layout concepts I created. I'm not sure which one I want to stick with yet.

Some logo concepts. I used my favorite ones in the layouts posted above.

Some environment studies I did. Trying to get my "dream sketches" out there.
Quick little character sketches I did. Still feel like these aren't anywhere near what I want the final designs to be, though.

Some more wolf silhouettes. I think I started going in the right direction for Sibyl towards the end of my sketching (with some help from my good friend, Jinny).

Some prop concepts I did.

More sketches from the zoo! Studying wolves some more
Playing around with some silhouettes and things.
Did some environment studies.

Sketchesss

Catching up on posting all of these sketches. I really am trying to fill up my current sketch book because I've had it forever and it never scans well. Only a few pages left, I can do it!

Portrait done in class this week.  I can tell I'm much more successful with doing closer to side views than full 3/4 views. Still working on getting the likeness though.

Gestures done at different times.

Gestures and Characters

We didn't have Animation class on Tuesday, so our assignment instead was to go out and draw gestures.

Character drawings done from the life drawings below.

Some gestures I did for my Animation III class.

Lots of Sketches

I've been sketching a lot in the past few days. Lots more work for class, but also some stuff I did for fun.

Another one of those sketches I did while I was feeling down.

I sketched these to try and cheer myself up.

Portrait done in class yesterday.

Some life drawings I did during class for practice.

What I've Been Up To

A bunch of various drawings for class and some done outside of class. At the Animation Student Collective this week, we had the opportunity to do a lot of life drawings and gestures, so that was a lot of fun!

Quick sketch I did, in the cintiq lab, of my character, Kominushu, to take a break from homework.

Another little sketch I did, trying to cheer myself up. This is my character, Gair, using a complementary color scheme.

A portrait I did for class this week.

Trying to figure out the construction of the wolf, by using reference images. Jinny helped me out a lot.

Some brown bear sketches I did at the zoo.

Animal gestures done at the Weeklies.

Life drawings done at the Animation Student Collective. These were done of people who got up and posed for us. Then towards the end we did some sketches from cartoons.

More Animating Fun

So Animation III has been making me enjoy animating a lot more, I've noticed. I'm really enjoying rough animation more than clean-up now. This week we worked on refining our first rough pass of our animations, as well as doing some gesture drawings from cartoons.

My refined rough pass.

Gestures from Toy Story.

Gestures from One Froggy Night and What's Opera Doc.

Fleshing Out Ideas!

Last weekend was an extremely busy weekend for my Drawing for Entertainment Design class. I made up the entire story outline and cranked out a bunch of concept work for my project. It's probably my most exciting class at the moment.

Silhouettes done of wolves. The last three in the bottom row are the ones I'm considering for Armon.

Silhouettes of Lilith. I'm most likely going to choose one of those last ones in the last row for the final.

Some environment studies done from the reference pictures I took at the zoo. Some of these were done without references, but I'm trying to experiment with making more stylized backgrounds. Backgrounds have always been the most difficult thing for me, so this is a big task for me.

Anatomy studies done of the animals. The Brown Bear is on the top and the Timber Wolf is on the bottom.

Some more studies of wolves I did at the zoo this week.
