Enemy Encounter: Environments

So I realized it's time I finally tried to face my greatest fear: environments. I have struggled with environments more than any other aspect of drawing. To be honest, it is something I do not know what to do in order to improve. So what is the battle plan? To just do them over and over again until I CAN do them successfully. These were some that I did last weekend.

I started out just doing some value studies to try and create "dream sketches."

  1. You are absolutely doing the right thing by just sitting down and doing studies. Little by little you exercise your mind and hand to be familiar with how landscapes or objects in nature work. It's no surprise that character artists would have a hard to with landscape's and vice versa. Human anatomy is my weak point, but I try to get them as best as I can. As you build upon this challenge you will either under detail or over detail your landscapes. It's great that you are facing a rather challenging subject for yourself.

    1. Thanks, Matt! Haha I'm doing what I can, I'm sure it will pay off in the future. :)
